3 Campground Amenities Families Want to See

Special

If you run a campground franchise, chances are you’ll want to do everything you can to appeal to potential campers. While you can’t always please everyone, it’s important to zero in on your target demographic and figure out their must-haves. If you can offer something that your competitors can’t, you’ll stand a good chance of securing the booking.

When family camping is your main focus, it’s essential that you’re able to appeal to both parents and children. You’ll want to provide opportunities for family members to spend quality time together, as well as convenient amenities that can alleviate stress for everyone. To be successful, family campgrounds should likely offer at least some of the following features.

  1. Cooking Area: Even if families come to camp in an RV or opt to stay in cabins in lieu of tents, it’s important to provide a way for families to make their meals. Since 78% of campers participate in outdoor cooking while camping, it’s clear that meal preparation can play an important role in the camping experience. Your campground franchise might offer access to grills or fire rings so that families can get a sense of authenticity each time they eat. If your campers don’t typically like to rough it, at least make sure that your cabins are outfitted with some sort of kitchen equipment.
  2. Laundry Facilities: Campsite franchises that cater to families often benefit from providing amenities to make parents’ lives easier during their trip. Traveling with kids can mean a lot of mess, so offering accessible laundry facilities may be a welcome relief for many moms and dads. Whether there’s a big spill on the very first day or an outdoor adventure that ends in a muddy fall, you’ll be able to provide families with the services they need. Even if the machines are coin-operated, the fact that they’re even there can be a life-saver for stressed-out parents.
  3. Fun Activities: If your aim is to attract families with young children to your campground franchise, you have to make it worth their while. The typical outdoor fare like hiking can be good for a day, but families want to see some variety — and want to be rest assured that their children won’t be bored. Entertainment, themed weekends, crafts, playgrounds, sports, outdoor movie screenings, and other activities can set your campsite apart and show families that there’ll be plenty to do, no matter what.
